Ian Marvy, the Executive Director of Added Value will be speaking about urban farming and its importance in promoting sustainable development and youth leadership in under served communities. Added Value's work in Red Hook has created opportunities for the youth of South Brooklyn to expand their knowledge base, develop new skills and positively engage with their community through the operation of a socially responsible urban farming enterprise. This dinner discussion will be held at iCi Restaurant. Since opening in 2004 the owner, Catherine Saillard, has consciously chosen to purchase their food from local farms, including Added Value, and successfully woven the restaurant into the social and economic fabric of Brooklyn.
